Claudication is a limitation in the amount of walking or standing that one can do. Neurogenic claudication generally comes from a narrowing around the nerves in the spine. Vascular claudication is generally associated with narrowing of the arteries supplying blood to the limbs. In both types of claudication, one finds that he or she cannot stand or walk as long as they would like. In neurogenic claudication from spinal stenosis, the individual usually finds that they cannot go shopping without leaning on the cart or resting very frequently. This limitation in activity is what usually drives people to seek medical attention. |
